Apartment Sabina offers a comfortable accommodation just 20m from the pebble beach Ploče and the Kantrida pools in Rijeka. The apartment is located on the ground floor of a family house with a spacious and beautifully landscaped garden, large parking and beautiful sea views. The house is located 20 meters above the sports-recreation and entertainment complex Kantrida and its gravel beach. Near the house there is a grocery, restaurant, cafe.. The city center and all major tourist facilities are about 5km away.
The accommodation is suitable for family vacation in Rijeka, summer holidays for groups of up to 6 persons, as well as for water sports enthusiasts and recreational vacations.
Apartment Sabina is a newly-refurbished, fully equipped and air-conditioned apartment with capacity of beds for 4-6 persons.
The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen with dining area, a living room, two bedrooms, one bathroom (toilet / shower / bath tub), couch (toilet / washing machine), terrace with sea view and spacious terrace in front of apartment, surrounded by greenery and flowers .
In the living room there is a sofa that can serve as an extra bed for up to two people.
The apartment is equipped with 3 air conditioning units (in the living room and both bedrooms), has WiFi Internet, a sat TV, a washing machine.. The parking space for two cars is provided on a large parking space in the closed yard of the house.

The city of Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia and also the largest Croatian port. In Roman times at the mouth of the river Rječina, the first settlements are built and the city slowly gets its outline. The most famous street in Rijeka is Korzo. Since the early 19th century, this street has become the main street of the town and the majority of its urban life takes place here. By the end of the 18th century, on the place where this street was, there was a pebble sea coast, a shipyard and a town loggia.
Although Rijeka is not a typical tourist destination with vast beaches full of sun loungers and umbrellas, there are still very beautiful beaches where you can look for refreshments in the hot summer months. One of the most beautiful beaches in Rijeka is the beach Ploče. In the Kantrida football stadium, there is a newly renovated dog beach and Rijeka is standing next to other "dog friendly" destinations.
Beach Kostanj is the first beach in Croatia specially equipped for people with disabilities. It is also one of the most well-equipped beaches in the Mediterranean for people with disabilities. This beach is carrier of a blue flag. Considering that Rijeka is a large port city, is surprising the high purity of the sea on the beaches north of the center of Rijeka.
During your stay in Rijeka, do not miss the visit: Korzo, Main Market Square, Old Town of Rijeka, the Cathedral St. Vid, Numerous interesting churches, Town Halls, Trsat Castle, Astronomical Center, Peek & Poke Museum, Numerous Museums, Collections and Exhibitions, night out in clubs on the waterfront, and town Kastav.

On arrival we two were met by our host, Zrinka, who gave us a great welcome and very efficient showround of the accommodation, indicating things we needed to know in order to get hot water for the shower, how the microwave and cooker worked, where we could find extra pillows for the bed, etc. Further, we were offered a welcome drink and some home made apple cake. We saved some cake for our friends!
We had some issues with our booking in that we had booked with a particular agent, but it transpired that they had sold for another company, and it was another completely different agent that Zrinka has dealings with. Eventually the necessary documentation was located and all was well. Zrinka gave us a card with her contact details and pointed out where to find the WiFi code. She also allowed another friend to park a car in the drive during the daytime.
The apartment was spotless and we endeavoured to keep it so. The apartment has two bedrooms each with twin beds, and a lounge with a sofabed. The beds are quite firm but we all slept well.
Off the lounge and first bedroom runs a balcony outside. There is one bathroom with a shower over the bath, wc and wash basin. In the second 'bathroom' there is a wash basin, bidet, wc and a washing machine. The kitchen is well supplied - microwave, fridge, electric cooker - although for us Brits we felt it was missing a toaster.
The outside space has a small table and 2 chairs on the balcony. There is a separate terrace which has a table, bench and chairs - all under cover - cushions for which are kept inside. There is also a washing line with pegs. There is sufficient car parking for 2 cars
We found the apartment more than adequate for our needs and the location, in a side road away from the main road and there was little passing traffic - the road leading in and out of the car park for the pool. For us this was excellent. For anyone without a car, there are bus stops just a few steps away up on the main road.
Just up on the main road is a superb bakery with fresh bread, rolls, pastries, milk, yoghurt and cold drinks. Set back from the bakery is a small supermarket (no nameboard, quite unobtrusive) which supplies basic things one might need. Alternatively with a car one can drive a couple of miles towards Opatija where there is a fairly substantial Lidl.
We ate out in the evenings, socialising with a wider group of friends, mostly in Opatija but sometimes at the beach beneath Kantrida.
The beach nearby is pebbles but the water is clean and clear with no real tidal swell, safe for children, non swimmers and swimmers. The swimming areas are generally roped off.
If the apartment is available next year when we come again to Rijeka, we will most certainly book it without hesitation. Thank you Zrinka for your generous welcome and hospitality - we look forward to seeing you again in 2020.
